Hellooo Linda,

We arrived home yesterday after a long drive and I am glad to say we had an amazing time on Lewis, Your home is wonderful & we didn’t want to leave! The weather was great, we had sunshine everyday which was brilliant. The beaches there are fantastic … especially Luskentyre on Harris. Anne welcomed and showed us round & assured us she was there should we need her, then we fought over which bedroom to have! ;).  Loved the cushions, Scottie dog & curtains in the Harris Tweed … They made me buy some material at the shop to have a go myself, although i have no idea when i will get round to it! (and they won’t be as good!)  The worktop in the kitchen & shelves are gorgeous, we love anything made from real wood 🙂 Also the balconies upstairs are a great idea and so easy to use … I could go on and on!

It must be hard to rent it out and hope people look after it (we did) as you would yourself, but then again it must be equally nice to be able show it off too.  Thank you for a wonderful break in your lovely home on an enchanting Island.

I am sure we will be back.  I will leave a review on trip advisor this week (reluctantly as more people will go!)

Thank you once again,   Gill & Ade Burns, Cheshire

Hi Linda,

Thank you, we had a brilliant time, we absolutely loved the house, such a great place and I loved how the light at different times of day is captured throughout. We generally got good weather, a few rainy spots but that just have us an excuse to spend a bit of time relaxing in the house. We got some cracking days at Luskentyre and Uig, the picture postcard blue sky and sea – on days I believe most of the UK was being drenched with rain…we felt very lucky! Welcome touches of tasty food and bubbly very nice touches too, thank you.

We left with heavy hearts, and will definitely be back to Lewis…and I’m not sure any other holiday house could compare to yours…

many thanks, Anna & Scott Bennett, & Fin, Aberdeenshire

Hi Linda

We arrived home yesterday and the weather here now is not at all like the summer sunshine we left behind when starting our journey north.  We were prepared for what the Scottish weather might bring so we did have to get our waterproofs out on a few occasions.  The sun kindly shone when we visited Uig beach on our last day though.  We explored as much of Lewis as we could in the time we were there and we also went on an eagle walk with the North Harris Trust ranger on Wednesday morning – spotted one golden eagle near the end of the 3 hour walk.  We came across the Loch Stiapabhat nature reserve in Ness where the hide provided shelter from the rain as well as the opportunity to spot some birdlife. One particular highlight of the week for me was when our satnav directed us along a single track road just outside Stornoway to get to the Callanish stones – driving through the peatland dotted with little huts.

The Longhouse had everything we could have possibly needed, including a lovely view of the bay, and was an excellent base for us.  Anne was very welcoming and the goodies you provided on our arrival were much appreciated.  I loved the Harris Tweed throughout the house and ended up buying a couple of cushions from The White House just down the road.

I do hope we can return sometime. Thanks again.

Hi Linda

Thanks for your note;  Yes the weather was mixed – howling gales the first night – but we had a fabulous week and in large part thanks to the house.  I have to say you have done an amazing job and I meant what I said about inspiring us to try and do something similar somewhere at some point!
